Laboratory Of Fluid Dynamics Of Turbomachinery (LFM)
The laboratory is dedicated to the study and experimental characterisation of the fluid-dynamic performance of turbines, compressors and pumps. Particular attention is devoted to the study of flow fields in turbo machinery straight and annular cascades. The laboratory can support the development of new blading profiles or of elements of turbines and compressors from the beginning of the project with straight cascade tests to subsequent phases with tests on the complete stages. The availability of numerous and versatile test facilities together with the availability of advanced measurement techniques and skills in the application of computational fluid dynamics codes, ensure LFM is one of the largest sector laboratories in Europe.
