Best Poster Award at CHISA 2026 for research from the Department of Energy
The work is authored by Djamel Eddine Aissaoui, Andrea Ferrario, Nicolò Varallo, Hendrik Hessenkemper, and Giorgio Besagni and stems from a collaboration between the Department of Energy at Politecnico di Milano and the Institute of Fluid Dynamics at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) in Germany. The research is part of the AURIGA project, “Unveiling the Riddles of Gas-Liquid Fluid Dynamics: Towards Novel Carbon Dioxide Absorption Systems”, coordinated by Prof. Giorgio Besagni.
The research investigates the influence of bubble release mechanisms on bubble rise velocity and deformation in aqueous ionic liquid solutions, contributing to the study of multiphase flow phenomena. The poster was presented as part of the special session “Fluid and granular flows”.
The Best Poster Award was presented by the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE) – Working Party on Multiphase Fluid Flow during CHISA 2026, held in Prague from 23 to 27 August 2026.
Now in its 28th edition, CHISA – International Congress of Chemical and Process Engineering – has a 64-year tradition and is a major international event for the chemical and process engineering community, bringing together researchers, early-career scientists, and experts from academia and industry. The scientific programme of the 2026 edition addressed, among other topics, digitalisation and modelling, energy, sustainability, multiphase and granular flows, and chemical processes and technologies.
The award was received in Prague by Djamel Eddine Aissaoui, who presented the work during the congress.
