Enrico Zio delivers Plenary Keynote at the International Conference on Reliability, Maintainability and Safety 2026 in China

Professor Enrico Zio, Full Professor at the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano, was invited to deliver a Plenary Keynote Lecture at the 17th International Conference on Reliability, Maintainability and Safety (ICRMS 2026), held in Guangzhou, China, from 14 to 17 July 2026.
ICRMS is one of the leading international conferences dedicated to reliability, maintenance and safety of engineering systems. The 2026 edition, entitled “Intelligence Illuminates Reliability, Data Drives Safety”, brought together researchers, industry professionals and practitioners from around the world to discuss the latest advances in the field. The conference is promoted by seven leading Chinese scientific societies and is technically sponsored by the IEEE Reliability Society.
In his keynote lecture, entitled “Trustable AI for Reliability, Maintenance and Safety”, Professor Zio presented the growing role of artificial intelligence in the analysis of multimodal data—numerical, visual and textual—collected through the monitoring of complex components and systems.
The lecture explored how AI algorithms can support the assessment of the State of Health (SoH) of engineering systems and improve decision-making for reliability, maintenance and safety. Particular attention was devoted to the challenges that must still be addressed to make these technologies truly reliable, transparent and deployable in industrial applications, with a focus on trustworthy AI, model robustness and operational applicability.

The invitation to deliver a Plenary Keynote Lecture confirms the international recognition of the scientific work carried out by Professor Enrico Zio and the LASAR³ (Signal analysis and risk analysis) research group at the Department of Energy, Politecnico di Milano, in the fields of complex systems reliability, risk analysis and the application of artificial intelligence to energy and industrial systems.
