Monza Fast Future: Politecnico di Milano supports students in a pathway on energy, environment and health

Over 100 students from three secondary schools in Monza – Liceo P. Frisi, Istituto P. Hensemberger, and Istituto Mosè Bianchi – took part during the school year in an in-depth program focused on the theme “Energy, Environment and Health: what solutions?”, developed within Monza Fast Future, the Sustainability Festival promoted by the Municipality of Monza.
The project was coordinated and supervised by a team of faculty members from the Department of Energy of the Politecnico di Milano: Matteo Passoni, Full Professor of Condensed Matter Physics and Rector’s Delegate for Student Orientation; Gianluca Valenti, Associate Professor of Energy Conversion and Rector’s Delegate for North American Relations; and Valeria Russo, Associate Professor of Condensed Matter Physics.
The students explored topics related to the energy transition, environmental sustainability, and technological innovation, developing project proposals and innovative solutions presented through 20 final posters. Researchers and PhD candidates from the Politecnico di Milano also took part in the activities, supporting students in developing their ideas: Davide Orecchia, research fellow at the Department of Energy; Laura Sanna, Kevin Ambrogioni, and Carlo Tuccari, PhD students in the Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology program – STEN.
The results of the program were presented on Saturday, May 9 at the Arengario in Monza, during a public event held as part of the Monza Fast Future festival.

“Engaging schools on topics such as energy, environment, and health is essential to building awareness and skills. As the Department of Energy of the Politecnico di Milano, we strongly believe in dialogue with local communities and in the active role of younger generations in the energy transition.”

The initiative confirms the commitment of the Department of Energy of the Politecnico di Milano to fostering dialogue with local communities and promoting educational and outreach activities for younger generations on the topics of energy and sustainability.
