Physis PEB Wins the Innovation Prize and Takes Third Place at the 2026 Monaco Energy Boat Challenge
The Physis PEB (Polimi Energy Boat) student team from Politecnico di Milano won the Innovation Prize at the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2026, the international competition dedicated to sustainable boating technologies, which concluded on 11 July at the Yacht Club de Monaco.
In addition to this prestigious recognition for innovation, the team secured third place in the Energy Class category, competing against 21 teams from more than 10 countries.
The Innovation Prize is awarded by an international jury to the project that stands out for the originality of its solutions, their potential impact, and their practical applicability to the future of sustainable navigation. Every year, the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge brings together universities and young engineers from around the world to develop and test innovative technologies for low-emission marine propulsion.
The result represents an important recognition of the research, design, and development work carried out by the Physis PEB students, who just a few weeks ago unveiled their new prototype, PB526: the first self-supporting monocoque chassis developed by the team, featuring an integrated motor tower and an active trim control system, the result of intensive multidisciplinary design work.
