Carries out research and consultancy for the development of advanced measurement and diagnostic techniques, particularly applied to power electrical systems.
Through the development of innovative systems and measurement algorithms based on advanced models, the Measurement and Diagnostics Laboratory for Power Electrical Systems (M2EPS-Lab) focuses on electromagnetic monitoring and diagnostics across a wide range of processes, primarily related to the identification and location of faults and defects in power electrical systems.
The studied applications are highly diverse and designed to meet the specific needs of companies. Examples include:
- Detection and localisation of partial discharges in medium-voltage switchgear.
- Fault analysis and characterisation in high-speed lines, with particular attention to the propagation of voltage waves in MV cables.
- Geoelectric prospecting of soils for non-invasive localisation of waterproofing defects in buildings.
- Identification and localisation of harmonic sources in distribution electrical networks.
- Characterisation of insulation defects in HVDC extruded joints.
- Non-invasive diagnostics of electric arcs in AC and DC circuit breakers.
Services offered
The M2EPS-Lab offers a wide range of customised services for companies and research organisations, including:
- Consultancy for the development of diagnostic models
- Support and participation in dedicated measurement campaigns
- Development of diagnostic algorithms
- Design and implementation of dedicated measurement instrumentation
