Network innovation and the future of energy: Closing ceremony for the Smart Grids Executive Programme in collaboration with E-Distribuzione
On 10 April 2025, the final ceremony of the Smart Grids Executive Programme, the advanced professional training course organised by the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano in collaboration with E-Distribuzione, was held in Rome, in the ENEL auditorium. The programme, directed by Prof. Marco Merlo, was created to address future challenges in the field of distribution and to train new experts capable of guiding the energy transition and network innovation, contributing to the design of increasingly resilient and sustainable smart grids. The training course, which lasted five months in a hybrid format combining teaching and group work, provided 35 E-Distribuzione employees with the tools to tackle the transformations in the electricity sector. During the day, participants presented their final project work on strategic network issues and talked about the skills they had developed, the importance of teamwork and their vision for the future of energy.
The participants had previously presented their project work at EN:lab, the headquarters of the Department of Energy in Milan, in front of the course board and tutors from the Politecnico di Milano and E-distribuzione.
At the end of the ceremony, several comments expressed the participants’ satisfaction with the course they had just completed: a rich and well-structured programme that allowed them to develop cross-disciplinary and interpersonal skills. They described these months as an exciting experience, destined to leave a lasting mark on their professional careers.
The Smart Grids Executive Programme is a virtuous example of collaboration between industry and academia, confirming the leading role of our Department in advanced training for the energy sector.
