Energy, educational and digital innovation: Politecnico di Milano at SUTech in Cairo
From November 22 to 30, a delegation from the Politecnico di Milano, composed of professors from the Department of Energy, ABC (Architecture, Construction Engineering, and Built Environment), and the METID center, carried out an intensive program of academic activities at the Elsewedy University of Technology – Polytechnic of Egypt (SUTech) in Cairo.
The mission was led by Professor Emanuela Colombo—Rector’s Delegate for Scientific Diplomacy and holder of the UNESCO Chair in Energy for Sustainable Development—and Professor Riccardo Mereu, coordinator of collaboration activities with SUTech under the agreement between Politecnico di Milano and Eni Corporate University.
During the week, the delegation participated in training sessions, institutional meetings, and capacity-building activities for SUTech faculty and students in energy-related programs.
The Politecnico team contributed to the Training of Trainers (TOT) Week, a program dedicated to developing the academic skills of SUTech staff through seminars, methodological lessons, and interactive sessions. The week concluded with a certificate ceremony for participants, recognizing their commitment and professional growth.
The mission also included participation in the panel “Energy & AI: Two Sides of a Coin,” which brought together representatives from industry and academia to discuss the integration of artificial intelligence into energy efficiency processes. The discussion provided insights into potential developments in technological innovation applied to the sector and the future training needs.
“The week of work in Cairo has strengthened a strategic partnership that combines education, innovation, and an international vision. Collaborating with an emerging academic institution like SUT and with qualified industrial partners allows us to contribute to the training of new generations of engineers and technicians capable of tackling the energy challenges of the future.”
Affirm Professor Colombo and Professor Mereu.
“The integration of advanced instructional design methodologies with AI-supported solutions allows us to create training models that are tailored to the specific context but also scalable and replicable, capable of responding to the necessary evolutions in the education sector.”
States Dr. Daniela Casiraghi.
The collaboration with SUTech continues to represent a significant opportunity for the Department of Energy at the Politecnico di Milano for exchange, growth, and the strengthening of academic and professional activities in the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern context.
