Research and Innovation: at the Department of Energy the STEN PhD Course Poster Session

On October 2, 2025, the Department of Energy organized the annual Poster Session dedicated to second-year students of the PhD CourseEnergy and Nuclear Science and Technology (STEN)” .

Thirty-nine PhD candidates presented the progress of their research projects through posters in front of the Faculty Board, colleagues, and the entire Department community, in an event that involved more than 100 participants.

The Poster Session was also an opportunity to hold a roundtable on energy and sustainability topics, particularly focusing on the role of advanced education in developing solutions for the energy transition. The roundtable, titled Driving Sustainable Futures: A PhD in Energy and Nuclear Science & Technology to Pioneer Energy Transition,” featured members of the STEN PhD Course Advisory Board (Enrica Monticelli, De Longhi; Alessandro Zani, Joint Research Centre; Roberto Zennaro, Eni S.p.A.) and Silvia Lasala, invited as a former PhD candidate at Politecnico di Milano and currently a professor at Université de Lorraine. Professor Emanuela Colombo from the Department of Energy moderated the session, inviting speakers to share their respective perspectives—industrial, corporate, and research—on the topics discussed.

Once again, this year’s Poster Session confirmed itself as a shared moment of exchange and learning, offering a stimulating opportunity to engage with ideas and projects related to the world of energy.
