Sonia Leva Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES)

Prof. Sonia Leva, lecturer in the Department of Energy at Politecnico di Milano, has been named Distinguished Lecturer by the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES), the most important association in the field of electrical engineering. This prestigious award was conferred on Prof. Leva by the PES Board of Directors, making her one of 68 ambassadors of energy culture and knowledge, from education to research, in the world. She is the only member from an Italian university.
The IEEE Power & Energy Society Distinguished Lecturer Programme (DLP) is a high-profile initiative that organises international conferences to promote the exchange of knowledge and experience among experts from industry, academia and government institutions, with the aim of representing and promoting the development of the field.
In its letter of appointment, the Board of Directors highlighted the crucial role of energy engineers in the current context where electricity plays an increasingly central role in the economy and society, while the urgency of tackling climate change requires innovative solutions in the energy sector.
Commenting on her nomination, Prof. Leva said:
This award is an extraordinary opportunity to share knowledge and experience in the field of electricity with a very wide audience, thus contributing to the dissemination of culture and research in the field. I am honoured.
