A journey of excellence: University and Lombardy Region meet

The tour “A journey of excellence: Universities and the Lombardy Region meet”, promoted by Alessandro Fermi, Lombardy Region’s Councillor for Universities, Research and Innovation, also made a stop at the Department  of Energy of Politecnico di Milano.

On 16 January, the Councillor was welcomed by Rector Donatella Sciuto, Vice-Chancellor for Research Alberto Guadagnini, Vice-Chancellor for Talent Development Paolo Biscari, and Veronica Marrocu, President of the Student Council, on the occasion of the last leg of his journey to discover Lombardy’s universities.

During the visit, the Councillor had the opportunity to explore the Wind Tunnel and meet the Skyward Experimental Rocketry student team. Afterwards, he visited the Pro-eStorage Lab of the Department of Energy, accompanied by Prof. Andrea Casalegno, Head of the Lab, and Prof. Giovanni Lozza, Director of the Department.

The Pro-eStorage Lab is a state-of-the-art centre of excellence, where the competences of five different departments of the Politecnico converge. This inter-departmental hub is dedicated to the research and prototyping of innovative solutions in the field of sustainable energy, ranging from polymer fuel cells to electrolysers, from flow batteries to lithium-ion batteries.

At the end of the visit, Councillor Fermi enthusiastically underlined the importance of the Lombardy university system, describing it as an excellence of which to be deeply proud.
