Develops and tests innovative solutions and components for ventilation and contaminant control in civil, industrial and museum environments.
The HVAC WHITE BOX laboratory focuses on the study of innovative systems for ventilation and air contamination control, filtration, energy efficiency of buildings and thermal-hygrometric comfort. Its activities include the study of HVAC systems and processes, as well as the development of innovative techniques for characterising contamination sources, particulate and microbiological contaminants, ventilation, filtration and environmental monitoring in controlled contamination environments and applications related to art conservation.
It also collaborates with companies and institutions in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, semiconductor and museum sectors. Experimental activity is carried out in parallel with modelling, with particular attention to fluid dynamics simulation of the internal microclimate. The laboratory consists of two main circuits: i) an ISO 5 class clean room (≥0.5 µm) and an ISO3 class body box (≥0.5 µm), as well as all the measuring equipment necessary for the classification and testing of controlled contamination environments; ii) a circuit for characterising the performance of air system components, such as exchangers and evaporative cooling systems.
For years, it has been active in training operators and validators of clean rooms at an international level.
Services offered:
- Study, control and monitoring of contamination
- Development and testing of HVAC systems for ventilation, air quality and thermal comfort
- Fluid-dynamic simulation of environments and processes
- Specialised training
