Tongji University delegation at Politecnico

Five professors from the College of Architecture and Urban Planning of the Chinese university

On 22 June, a delegation of five professors from the College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP) of Shanghai Tongji University visited Politecnico di Milano to present some new collaboration opportunities to researchers from the Departments of Energy, Architecture, Construction and Built Environment (DABC) and Architecture and Urban Studies (DAStU).

Following the visit of President Fang Shouen last April, this initiative is the first formal act aimed at consolidating the existing collaboration between the two universities after the pandemic and at initiating new scientific and educational cooperation projects with professors and researchers from Politecnico.

In particular, the Chinese colleagues visited the laboratories of the Environmental Technical Physics Group of the Department of Energy – Bovisa Campus, with which there is already an established line of scientific collaboration, coordinated by Prof. Francesco Causone, on the characterisation of energy and environmental performance in urban areas. They then visited the Labora and SaperLab laboratories and the Renzo Piano Foundation at the Leonardo Campus.

The visit provided an opportunity for an important exchange of information with a view to establishing concrete educational and research collaborations in the fields of architecture, urbanism and the physics of buildings and cities.
