The Department is structured into a set of bodies responsible for guiding and managing activities related to scientific research, technology transfer, education and knowledge dissemination. The administrative structure supports the governing bodies in their functions.

Governance Bodies

Director

The Director legally represents the Department, liaises with the university’s governing bodies and ensures compliance with current regulations, the Statute and university regulations. Supported by the Deputy Director, the Director coordinates the activities of the Department’s governance and support bodies, defining its strategies and managing its operations. The Director is elected by the Department’s faculty and may appoint delegates for specific functions.

Department Council (CdD)

The Department Council is the main decision-making body where strategic guidelines are discussed and decisions regarding Department activities – including resource allocation and use – are made. It comprises full and associate professors, researchers and representatives of technical-administrative staff, PhD students and research fellows.

The Executive Board supports the Director in operational management and departmental organisation, prepares matters for the Council and ensures the implementation of its resolutions.

Support Bodies

Scientific Committee (CS)

Coordinates and monitors research activities; proposes the Department’s Scientific Project, evaluates scientific results and assesses the achievement of strategic objectives; advises the Council on criteria for resource allocation and utilisation. The CS comprises full professors affiliated with the Department.

Teaching Committee (CD)

Oversees the planning and management of educational activities; ensures the coverage of teaching assignments as defined by the Schools and supervises compliance with institutional teaching commitments by professors and researchers.

Le Sezioni
