Politecnico in Mombasa with a workshop on energy

Two of our researchers on the Horizon Europe IAM COMPACT project

Francesco Tonini and Lorenzo Rinaldi, researchers from Department of Energy’s Sustainable Energy System Analysis and Modelling (SESAM ) group, held a workshop last week in Mombasa, Kenya, as part of the Horizon Europe IAM COMPACT project .

Politecnico di Milano researchers shared their advanced knowledge in the field of energy modelling and policies with the participants, highlighting the importance of developing sustainable solutions to address energy and climate challenges in Africa.

The IAM COMPACT project, funded by the European Union, aims to support the assessment of global climate goals by promoting international cooperation and the exchange of key knowledge. In this context, the workshop focused on sharing knowledge and practical experiences on integrated planning for energy, economic, food and water supply, and examining linkages between resource systems and economic sectors.

The event was hosted by the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) at the RECCReC Centre, with valuable contributions from Politecnico di Milano, KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), National Technical University of Athens (Greece) and the other consortium partners. This international collaboration gave participants access to a wide range of experience and expertise in sustainability and climate change.

Through this initiative, the IAM COMPACT project took a significant step towards achieving its goals of sustainability and international collaboration, demonstrating the commitment of Politecnico di Milano and its European partners.
