Laboratorio per l'analisi delle prestazioni di fluidi refrigeranti naturali e/o sintetici in refrigeratori e pompe di calore a compressione di vapore. Caratterizzazione sia a livello di macchina, sia a livello dei singoli componenti.
The Refrigerant Fluids Laboratory features two experimental circuits for analysing the performance of refrigerant fluids in steam compression systems. The first circuit simulates a water-water compression system and is used to evaluate the performance of synthetic refrigerants (HFOs) and their mixtures. The second circuit simulates a similar system designed to analyse natural refrigerants, particularly carbon dioxide.
Research activities include the development of algorithms for fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) using artificial intelligence tools, such as neural networks, and the study of carbon dioxide and hydrocarbons mixtures to enhance the performance of refrigeration units and heat pumps.
Attività di recente introduzione (marzo 2025) riguarda infine l’analisi sperimentale delle prestazioni termofluidodinamiche di scambiatori di calore di tipo TPMS (Triply Periodic Minimal Surface) realizzati con tecniche di manifattura additiva.
