ThermALab (short for Thermal Analysis Lab) conducts numerical and experimental research in the field of heat exchange, developing thermal analyses of devices, systems and processes for a wide range of engineering applications, including automotive, electronics, biomedical and aerospace, as well as conventional and zero-emission energy systems. Current research topics at ThermALab include heat exchange at microscales, complex flows over a variety of enhanced surfaces, the thermal conductivity of metallic foams and trabecular or composite materials, and the spectral and directional radiometric properties of both opaque and transparent materials.
ThermALab has proven expertise in IR thermographic analysis and thermal modelling through thermofluid dynamic simulations (CFD), finite element multiphysics analysis (FEM), ray-tracing simulations and custom software development. The laboratory’s extensive experimental experience enables the creation of models that incorporate all relevant physical phenomena, achieving highly accurate results.
