On 16–17 April 2026, the Department of Energy at Politecnico di Milano will host the Radon Workshop 2026, an event dedicated to the presentation of the results of the 4th Radon Field Intercomparison organized by AIRP (Italian Association for Radiation Protection) and to an in-depth discussion of the main open issues related to radon measurement and management.

The workshop will take place at the Bovisa Campus, Building BL25 – Sala Consiglio (Via Lambruschini 4, Milan).

Objectives of the Event

The workshop provides an opportunity for technical and scientific exchange among research institutions, public authorities, industry professionals and operators involved in radon measurement and control activities.

Particular attention will be devoted to:

• organizational and metrological aspects of the intercomparison;

• characterization of exposure sites;

• analysis of results and critical issues identified during testing;

• accreditation requirements and metrological traceability;

• regulatory requirements and legal obligations concerning radon measurement;

• radon dosimetry services.

The program also includes a final round table discussion addressing the open issues emerging during the sessions, with the aim of fostering debate and consolidating best practices in the sector.

Program Committee

The workshop is coordinated by a program committee composed of representatives from ARPA, INAIL, ONET Technologies ND, the European Commission – JRC Ispra, and Politecnico di Milano, confirming the multidisciplinary and institutional nature of the initiative.
