Microgrids with Multi-Goods Laboratory (MG2Lab)

Carries out experimental and research activities in the field of Multi-Goods MicroGrids, developing and testing innovative energy management systems and integrating technologies for the production and storage of electrical and thermal energy, with particular attention to electric vehicle integration.

The Microgrids with Multi-Goods Laboratory (MG2Lab) is a low-voltage experimental facility. Since 2018, in collaboration with ENGIE EPS, the laboratory has included programmable generation units such as photovoltaic modules and natural gas CHP engines, various types of storage such as batteries and power-to-gas systems, and loads representing future applications. The experimental setup is a testbed for developing energy management systems, artificial intelligence tools and testing innovative components.

Services offered
  • Development of innovative energy management systems
  • Implementation of artificial intelligence tools in Microgrid (MG) management
  • Load and renewable energy resources (RES) forecasting
  • Integration of electric vehicles with bidirectional power flows (from grid to vehicle and vehicle to grid) in MG management
