Negrin Maddalena
Research and laboratory activities
She actively contributes to research activities and technical support at the Radiochemistry and Radiation Chemistry Laboratory, specialising in polymer radiation chemistry. During her PhD, she studied the effect of gamma irradiation on the compostability of polymers and is currently collaborating on the FURIOUS project, aimed at developing versatile and innovative polymers based on furandicarboxylic acid, with the aim of enriching the portfolio of bio-based plastics. She supervises master’s theses in the field of radioactive metal waste decontamination and provides support for practical exercises in Radiochemistry and Methods for Waste Characterisation and Valorisation courses. She has also taken part in European training projects in Radiochemistry (MEET-CINCH and A-CINCH), contributing to the development of the online courses Essential Radiochemistry for Society and Discovering Nuclear Science: Energy and Beyond (available on POK), as well as to the creation of a virtual laboratory dedicated to the surface decontamination of radioactive metal waste. Finally, she carries out technical activities at the accredited calibration centre – ionising radiation sector of the Radiation Metrology Laboratory.
Education
PhD in Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology
