Contribution of the Energy Department to the Energy Security Focus by ISPI

Professors Emanuela Colombo and Diana Shendrikova, from the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano, contributed to Focus Energy Security No. 11, recently published on the website of the International Policy Observatory, a joint project of the Senate, the Chamber of Deputies and MAECI and edited by the Institute for International Policy Studies (ISPI).

Their paper (Chapter 2 “The Geopolitical Significance of Sub-Saharan Africa”) explores the strategic importance of the region for the future of energy security and global transition policies. The analysis highlights how Sub-Saharan Africa can play a central role in new geopolitical and energy dynamics, offering a crucial contribution to the reflection on green corridors and new supply opportunities for Europe.

The Focus is part of a broader context of monitoring and analysing the priorities for Italian foreign policy, with particular attention to the challenges and opportunities related to energy transition, security of supply and sustainability.
