Seminar: Materials for Advanced Reactors
Lorenzo Malerba holds a MSc in Nuclear Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and a PhD in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, in both cases specialising in nuclear materials. After working for 18 years at the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre, SCK•CEN, where he created and led a group of structural nuclear materials modelling and microstructure, since 2018 Lorenzo Malerba is Research Professor at CIEMAT.
Since 2014 he coordinates the Joint Programme on Nuclear Materials of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA JPNM), dedicated to coordinating research on materials for sustainable nuclear energy in Europe. He recently also coordinated the Euratom-funded projects M4F (Multiscale Modelling for Fusion and Fission Materials) and ORIENT-NM (Organisation of the European Research Community on Nuclear Materials).
Since 1st October 2024 he coordinates CONNECT-NM (Coordination of the European Research Community on Nuclear Materials for Energy Innovation), the Co-funded European Partnership on nuclear materials, which will last for five years.
He authored or co-authored about 150 peer-reviewed articles and 60 proceeding papers, as well as 11 book chapters, summing up an H-index of 56 according to Google Scholar.
