Enrico Zio, lecturer at the Department  of Energy of Politecnico di Milano, participated as keynote speaker at the 2024 International Forum of Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation, held in Wuhan. During his speech, Prof. Zio covered topics central to the future of intelligent maintenance in the manufacturing sector, with a focus on the advancement of monitoring capabilities and the integration of emerging technologies such as sensors, rovers and drones.

Prof. Zio’s contribution highlighted the importance of collecting and processing knowledge, information and data (KIDs) in different forms – signals, images and text – related to the operation of manufacturing plants. These data, when analysed using artificial intelligence algorithms, can provide crucial information for assessing and predicting the functional state of equipment, paving the way for more intelligent and timely maintenance decisions.
