The Department of Energy at the International Microgrid Symposium
From 3 to 6 December 2024, Riccardo Mereu and Nicolò Stevanato, lecturers at the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano, represented the UNESCO Chair in Energy for Sustainable Development at the International Microgrid Symposium, held at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez in the Caribbean.
During the event, dedicated to the analysis of opportunities and challenges in the field of microgrids, the lecturers shared innovative strategies for off-grid energy planning, cooperation initiatives for local development and capacity building activities, contributing to the international debate on sustainable energy solutions.
In addition, Nicolò Stevanato received the Best Poster Award, placing third, for a paper exploring innovative approaches for estimating electricity demand in rural populations to support the design and implementation of microgrids to support local communities.
Participating in the International Microgrid Symposium was an important opportunity to engage with global leaders from academia, industry and government institutions, sharing ideas and perspectives on microgrid deployment,
said Riccardo Mereu.
We are proud to contribute to a vision of energy as a tool for community empowerment and equitable and sustainable development,
added Nicolò Stevanato.
The International Microgrid Symposium confirms itself as a platform of excellence for the exchange of knowledge and the promotion of innovative energy solutions.
