Hydrogen technology experts trained at Politecnico di Milano

The second edition of the Erasmus Mundus Master of Science in Hydrogen Technologies, HySET – Hydrogen Systems and Enabling Technologies, starts at Politecnico di Milano. The mission of HySET is to train professionals and researchers with multidisciplinary knowledge in the field of hydrogen and related systems, thanks to an education in an international and multicultural environment.

HySET is coordinated by Politecnico di Torino in collaboration with the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano, the Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands), the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Norway) and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain).

It is a double degree in energy engineering: in the first year, students study at one of the two entry points (Polimi and Polito), and in the second year they specialise at one of the partner universities, followed by an internship in a company.

Cooperation between academia and industry is one of the strengths of the programme: five leading international companies – Repsol, Safetec, Shell, Snam and Sintef – are project partners.

The second edition of HySET will start on 9 September 2024 with an Autumn School at the Department of Energy of the Politecnico di Milano, a welcome event dedicated to the first-year students of the new 2024/2025 cohort. The event will also be attended by students from the first edition.

On the first day of the Autumn School, the new students will be welcomed by Prof. Massimo Santarelli of Politecnico di Torino, contact person for HySET; Elisa Maviglia, Project Officer of EACEA ‘European Education and Culture Executive Agency’ for HySET; the Presidents of the Energy Engineering Course Council of Politecnico di Milano and Politecnico di Torino, Prof. Luigi Colombo and Prof. Alfonso Capozzoli respectively; the Vice-Chancellor for Education of the Politecnico di Milano, Prof. Stefano Ronchi. Finally, Evren Unsula (Shell) will moderate a session on a hydrogen supply chain case study.

During the following days, the students will participate in a series of workshops and seminars organised by College des Ingenieurs and in the case studies organised by the corporate partners.
