A cooperation initiative to promote low-emission energy development

In October, researchers from the SESAM (Sustainable Energy Systems Analysis and Modelling) group of the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano held a seminar in Tunis entitled “Science Diplomacy and Evidence-Based Policymaking” and a three-day technical training for members of a Tunisian consortium for economic and energy analysis and modelling, as well as for lecturers and students from ENIT, the National Engineering School of Tunis.

The activity, which involved SESAM researchers Diana Shendrikova, Francesco Tonini and Giacomo Crevani, coordinated by Prof. Matteo Vincenzo Rocco, was part of the project DIAPOL-CE – Policy Dialogue and Knowledge Management on Low Emission Development Strategies”, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

DIAPOL-CE supports policy makers in developing national low emission energy development strategies based on the best available knowledge and strengthens the link between policy makers and academia in West Asian and African countries.
