Enrico Zio, lecturer at the Department of Energy at Politecnico di Milano, received the prestigious “Educator of the Year 2024” award from the International System Safety Society (ISSS). This award is given annually for outstanding contributions to systems safety education and the advancement of knowledge in this critical field.

Prof. Zio is an internationally renowned expert in the fields of system reliability, safety and resilience, risk assessment of complex systems and critical infrastructure, and maintenance engineering. Known for his pioneering research in the use of advanced Monte Carlo simulation methods, artificial intelligence and evolutionary optimisation in the aforementioned fields, he has contributed significantly to the development of methods for reliability analysis and risk and resilience assessment of complex systems.
