Polimi Energy Week in Cairo: training and international collaboration
From 13 to 17 April 2025, Elsewedy University of Technology (SUT) in Cairo hosted Polimi Energy Week, an intensive week of training and collaboration dedicated to students enrolled in the Energy Engineering Technology programme. The event was organised as part of an agreement between Politecnico di Milano and Eni Corporate University (ECU) to support the development of educational and professional skills in the energy sector.
Polimi Energy Week offered a rich and varied programme: participants took part in seminars and practical sessions held by lecturers from the Departments of Energy and ABC (Architecture, Construction Engineering and the Built Environment) at Politecnico di Milano, with a strong focus on the challenges of energy transition and energy efficiency applied to the SUT campus.
The opening address was given by Prof. Emanuela Colombo, delegate of the Rector of Politecnico di Milano for Scientific Diplomacy and holder of the UNESCO Chair in Energy for Sustainable Development, who shared her thoughts on energy issues and the challenges of the future. During the week, Prof. Riccardo Mereu, Eng. Khaled Sayed Gad, Prof. Claudio Del Pero, Prof. Fabrizio Leonforte, Eng. Andrea Valese and Dr. Lia Tagliavini also spoke, contributing their scientific and educational expertise and offering practical and methodological insights.
The week ended with the presentation of projects developed by the students, who proposed innovative solutions to reduce energy consumption on campus. The closing ceremony saw the presentation of certificates to participants, recognising their commitment and active participation.
