Opening ceremony for the 3rd edition of the Specializing Master in Nuclear Safeguards
The opening ceremony of the 3rd edition of the Specializing Master in Nuclear Safeguards was held on December 19, 2025. The program is organized by the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano in collaboration with ENEN (European Nuclear Education Network) l’European Joint Research Centre (JRC), Academic institution participating in the European Nuclear Education Network, ESARDA (Enhancing R&D in Nuclear Safeguards) partners and other international organizations (e.g. IAEA).
This edition presents an important new feature: the training programme is being implemented as part of the European project SENSSEtt (Strengthening European Nuclear Safety and Safeguards Education training and tutoring). SENSSEtt is a European initiative committed to foster capacity building in Nuclear Safety and Safeguards Management. Co-funded by the European Union under the EU-INSC instrument and running from 2024 to 2029, this project brings together three European institutions – SKEMA Business School, Université Côte d’Azur and Politecnico di Milano – in order to to promote academic excellence.
In this context, the Specializing Master in Nuclear Safeguards aims to provide participants with the skills to improve the effectiveness of nuclear safeguards implementation, in support of national security and compliance with international regulations.
During the ceremony, the focus was on the educational content of the program, as well as on European and International Needs & Collaborations in education and training in the field of nuclear safeguards. The event concluded with a focus on the Alumni, featuring testimonials from former students of previous editions of the Specializing Master.
