Dario Alfani awarded by Fondazione NEST for excellence in research and innovation
On 12 March 2025, the “Inspire Leadership 2025” event was held at Palazzo Mezzanotte in Milan, during which three researchers were awarded prizes for their contribution to research and innovation within the NEST – Network 4 Energy Sustainable Transition project. Among the winners of the “NEST Researchers” Award for Research and Innovation’ was Dario Alfani, a researcher at the Department of Energy at Politecnico di Milano, the only Polimi winner, together with Aminhossein Jahanbin from the Politecnico di Bari and Mariangela Guastaferro from the University of Pisa.
The award, established by the NEST Foundation, the main partner of the event, recognises the quality and scientific value of the research conducted by NEST project researchers, as well as their ability to translate their findings into innovation and disseminate the results obtained.
Dario Alfani is involved in Spoke 5 of the NEST project, coordinated by Professor Giampaolo Manzolini and dedicated to Energy Conversion. His research activities focus mainly on the development and optimisation of advanced thermodynamic cycles for the production and storage of electrical energy using thermo-mechanical technologies, such as Carnot batteries.
«his award represents an important recognition of the work we are doing at NEST, with the aim of developing increasingly efficient and sustainable technologies for the energy transition. I am proud to be part of such an ambitious project and to contribute, through my work, to the advancement of research in this crucial sector.».
