World’s Top 2% Scientist

The World’s Top 2% Scientist ranking is a global ranking of women scientists with the highest levels of scientific productivity, compiled by Stanford University and Scopus. The ranking is the result of a study of bibliometrics, a science that uses mathematical and statistical techniques to analyse the quantity, quality and distribution of publications within scientific communities. The authors analysed data on more than 8.5 million researchers from universities and research centres worldwide. Of these, around 195,000 scientists have distinguished themselves for their scientific authority and now represent just 2% of the best. About 5,000 of them work (or have worked for most of their careers) in Italy, 185 of them at Politecnico di Milano.

Of the 185 at Polimi, 28 are related to the Department of Energy: Angelino, Astolfi, Baraldi, Berizzi, Besagni, Bozzini, Campanari, Chiesa, Consonni, D’Antona, D’Errico, Faranda, Forzatti, Giuffrida, Groppi, Leva, Lietti, Lozza, Macchi, Manzolini, Onorati, Romano M., Tronconi, Zio.
