Second edition of the course “Evolutionary Multi-Criteria Optimisation and Decision-Making”

In May, the second edition of the course “Evolutionary Multi-Criteria Optimisation and Decision-Making” was held, an integral part of the Doctoral Programme in Electrical Engineering, coordinated by the Department of Energy at Politecnico di Milano.
The initiative saw the extraordinary participation of Prof. Kalyanmoy Deb, one of the leading international experts in the field of evolutionary optimisation and multi-objective decision-making, who shared his knowledge and expertise with our PhD students.
Kalyanmoy Deb is a professor at Michigan State University (USA) in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is also a professor in the Departments of Computer Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. He is director of the Computational Optimisation and Innovation (COIN) Laboratory and previously founded and directed the Kanpur Genetic Algorithms Laboratory (KanGAL) at the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India.

Training and the future of nuclear energy: the experience of the Master’s Degree in Nuclear Safeguards at the FISA–EURADWASTE conference

From 12 to 16 May 2025, the 11th edition of the FISA-EURADWASTE conference was held in Warsaw. On 14 May, the Master’s & Continuing Education Office team participated in the “ENEN Dissemination Event on Safeguards Training and Education”, focusing on the European SaTE project. The project led to the creation of the Master’s Degree in Nuclear Safeguards, with students from all over the world and different backgrounds. During the event, the results of the first two editions and testimonials from alumni were presented.

The Corporate Master’s programme kicks off in collaboration with Ansaldo Nucleare

The Department of Energy at Politecnico di Milano will manage the delivery of the new Corporate Master’s Degree in “Technologies for Nuclear Power Plants”, developed in partnership with Ansaldo Nucleare and in collaboration with CIRTEN (International Consortium for Nuclear Technology Research), the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) and the DIME (Department of Mechanical, Energy, Management and Transport Engineering) of the University of Genoa.

Polimi Energy Week in Cairo: training and international collaboration

From 13 to 17 April 2025, Elsewedy University of Technology (SUT) in Cairo hosted Polimi Energy Week, an intensive week of training and collaboration dedicated to students enrolled in the Energy Engineering Technology programme. The event was organised as part of an agreement between Politecnico di Milano and Eni Corporate University (ECU) to support the development of educational and professional skills in the energy sector.

Network innovation and the future of energy: Closing ceremony for the Smart Grids Executive Programme in collaboration with E-Distribuzione

On 10 April 2025, the final ceremony of the Smart Grids Executive Programme, the advanced professional training course organised by the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano in collaboration with E-Distribuzione, was held in Rome, in the ENEL auditorium. The programme, directed by Prof. Marco Merlo, was created to address future challenges in the field of distribution and to train new experts capable of guiding the energy transition and network innovation, contributing to the design of increasingly resilient and sustainable smart grids.
