From April 28 to May 9, 2025, Nicolò Stevanato and Riccardo Mereu represented the Energy Department of Politecnico di Milano at the Energy Modelling Platform for Africa 2025 (EMP-A 2025), held at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Participation was in the context of the track dedicated to MicroGridsPy, an open-source tool co-developed and maintained by our Department as part of the SESAM Sustainable Energy Systems Analysis and Modelling research group, and aimed at optimizing the design of minigrids for electricity access in Sub-Saharan Africa.

During the track, participants explored the potential of MicroGridsPy to identify sustainable and cost-competitive energy system configurations, contributing to local capacity building in the field.

The track was sponsored by the international agency Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL).
