The Corporate Master’s programme kicks off in collaboration with Ansaldo Nucleare

A path of excellence to train future professionals in the nuclear sector. The Department of Energy will manage the training project.

The Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano will manage the delivery of the new Corporate Master’s Degree in “Technologies for Nuclear Power Plants”, developed in partnership with Ansaldo Nucleare and in collaboration with CIRTEN (International Consortium for Nuclear Technology Research), National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) e il DIME (Department of Mechanical, Energy, Management and Transport Engineering) of the Universiy of Genova.

The Level II Master’s programme, starting in October 2025, was created with the aim of training specialists in the nuclear sector, which is set to play an increasingly central role in the context of the energy transition. The programme, which lasts one year and includes 1,500 hours of training, is aimed at graduates in Engineering, Physics and Chemistry.

The Department of Energy will provide its expertise to train the young professionals who will be selected for the programme and hired on a permanent basis by Ansaldo Nucleare from the start of the course.

Scientific coordination is entrusted to Prof. Marco Ricotti of the Department of Energy, a collaborator with the IAEA and the European Commission on the subject of Small Modular Reactors.

"Nuclear power is back at the centre of the energy debate," he said. "We need new, up-to-date skills that are ready to tackle rapidly evolving technologies and a turbulent international context."
