Marco Ricotti is full professor of Nuclear Plants.
His research activities are devoted to technology and economics of Small Modular Reactors and Advanced Modular Reactors, including nuclear solutions for space applications.
He is chairing the Technical Working Group on Skills of the EU SMR Industrial Alliance – since 2024 – and he was the chairperson of the TWG on SMRs of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) – 2018 to 2025.
He is member of the Steering Committee of ESARDA (European Safeguards Research & Development Association) – since 2021 – and Director of the specializing Master on Nuclear Safeguards by Politecnico di Milano – since 2021 -, in collaboration with ENEN and funded by the European Commission (DG INTPA).
Since 2016 he is the president of the italian Inter-University Consortium for Nuclear Technology Research (CIRTEN). Since 2012 he is member of the High Scientific Council of the European Nuclear Society.
From 2016 to 2019 he served as president of SOGIN, the State company in charge of decommissioning of national nuclear facilities and radioactive waste management.
