Andrea Pola is Full Professor of Nuclear Measurements and Instrumentation and Head of the Nuclear Measurements Laboratory.
His research activity ranges from the study and development of solutions for the measurement of complex radiation fields, including microdosimetry, nanodosimetry, and spectrometry. He is also involved in systems for non-destructive control and characterization of materials, such as radiography, tomography, and X-ray fluorescence. In addition, he carries out activities related to the commissioning and decommissioning of medical facilities. He has participated in numerous national and international research projects, often serving as scientific coordinator or principal investigator. He is the author of more than 150 scientific publications.
He holds an international patent related to the DIAMON neutron spectrometer and is the founder of RAYLAB, a spin-off company of Politecnico di Milano.
From 2020 to 2025, he served as Coordinator of the Nuclear Engineering Section. Since 2024, he has been Head of the Master’s Degree Program in Nuclear Engineering at Politecnico di Milano.
As part of his science communication activities, in 2024 he published the popular science book Energia dal Nucleo, released by Mondadori.
