Bozzini Benedetto
Benedetto Bozzini was born in Milan in 1964. He graduated from the Politecnico di Milano in 1989 with a Master in Nuclear Engineering. He received his Ph.D in 1994 in Electrochemical Engineering and was granted the SCI’s (Italian Chemical Society) award for the best Ph.D. thesis in Electrochemistry. From 1994 to 1995 he was a post-doctoral student at the National Physical Laboratory, Materials Metrology Division (Teddington, UK). He was Associate Professor for the Department of Innovation Engineering, at the University of Salento, Lecce from 1998 to 2002. From 2002 to 2019 he has been Full Professor of the same Department and from 2019 at the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano. From 2008 to 2012 he served as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering. He is the recipient of 4 Institute of Materials Finishing (UK) awards: the Johnson Matthey Silver Medal in 2001 and 2011 and the Westinghouse Award in 2013 and 2016. He has been a member of the organizing and scientific committees of several International conferences, he is a member of the external review panels of the Canadian and Elettra Synchrotrons and Member of the Battery Expert Group of the CERIC-ERIC consortium.
Expertise: His research activity covers a broad area at the intersection of Electrochemical Materials Science and Spectroelectrochemistry, with a strong focus on Battery Materials, and concerns both developing the electrochemical synthesis of novel materials and electrochemical devices, and pushing forward our capabilities in achieving a molecular-level understanding of the electrochemical interface in operando. In particular, he has concentrated on in situ non-linear and X-ray spectroscopies and microspectroscopies for electrochemical energy storage devices.
Publications and Dissemination: 300 articles in reviewed journals, 2 EU patents. Over 40 invited and keynote lectures at International Congresses, Conferences, Symposia and Workshops.
