Onorati Angelo

Angelo Onorati, born in 1965, is a Full Professor of Fluid Machines and Internal Combustion Engines at Politecnico di Milano, Italy. He graduated with honors in Mechanical Engineering in 1989 and achieved a PhD degree in Energy Engineering in 1993. He currently coordinates the research activity of the Internal Combustion Engine Group. His main research subjects are: the next generation of thermal engines fed with bio- and e-fuels; the 1D and CFD modeling of unsteady reacting flows in IC engine duct-systems and after-treatment devices; the modeling of SI and CI engine combustion process and emission formation; the modelling of silencers and tailpipe noise. He is the author of more than 170 publications and three books. He started many research collaborations with universities and automotive companies for the application and enhancement of the 1D-3D thermo-fluid dynamic codes developed by the research group, namely the tools Gasdyn and LibICE. During the years, he has been the local coordinator of several competitive national and European research projects in the field of innovative IC engines. He is involved in the editorial board of the IJER (International Journal of Engine Research) and of the SAE International Journal of Engines. In April 2011 he received the Lloyd L. Withrow distinguished speaker SAE award. In 2021 he co-founded the PoliMi spin-off company Sursum-Mi.
