Faranda Roberto Sebastiano
Roberto Sebastiano Faranda was born in 1970 in Milan, Italy. He graduated in 1994, and received his Ph.D. in 1998, both in Electrical Engineering, from Politecnico di Milano. From 1999 to 2010 he was Researcher and from 2010 to 2021 Associate Professor and since December 2021 he has been Full Professor of Electrical Systems for Energy ING-IND/33 at the Department of Energy, Politecnico di Milano.
Responsible for many years of lectures, tutorials and examinations of several courses in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Systems for Energy, Electrical Installations, Electrical Power Distribution and Applications, Network Automation and protection Systems, tools for network simulation, Electrical Applications, Electrothermal Applications and DC microgrids operation and design.
His scientific activity focuses on power quality, renewable energy, distributed generation, electrical load modeling, active filters, lighting design, power electronic applications in power grids, AC and DC networks, and magnetic applications.He is the author of more than 150 publications mainly published in international and national journals and conference proceedings, and the author of 25 patents filed jointly by Politecnico di Milano and the Company, all of which were subsequently transferred through Technology Transfer Office (TTO) of Politecnico di Milano to the Company to obtain full ownership.
He is head and coordinator of the PHOS (Photovoltaics, Lighting and Energy Quality) laboratory at the Department of Energy, Politecnico di Milano.
