Maestri Matteo
Matteo Maestri, born in 1980, is a Full Professor of Chemical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, Italy. He graduated with honors in Chemical Engineering (Laurea) in 2004 and completed his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and Industrial Chemistry in 2008. Matteo’s academic journey has been enriched by international experiences, including roles as a visiting scholar at the University of Delaware, USA (2006-2007), an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow in Berlin, Germany (2009-2010), and at the Department of Chemistry of TUM, Munich, Germany (2011). His research focuses on applying chemistry to energy and sustainable processes, with a particular emphasis on catalytic kinetics and multiscale modeling of catalytic processes. Utilizing a range of methodologies, his work encompasses atomistic (DFT) calculations, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and kinetic analysis to operando-spectroscopy. He has been the PI of several competitive funding, including 3 ERC grants (ERC Starting in 2015, ERC Proof-of-concept in 2020 and 2022). Recent awards include the TUM Ambassador honorary title by TUM Munich in 2021 and the “Gian Paolo Chiusoli Gold Medal” in Catalysis presented by the Italian Chemical Society in 2022. Matteo has been the Principal Investigator for several competitive projects, including three ERC grants (ERC Starting in 2015, ERC Proof-of-concept in 2020 and 2022).
