Manzolini Giampaolo
Giampaolo Manzolini is Full Professor of Energy and Environmental Systems at Politecnico di Milano. He obtained his master of science in mechanical engineering and his PhD in Energy from Politecnico di Milano. He mainly researches innovative technologies and processes with low or zero environmental impact. He works on improving concentrated solar power technologies, focusing on heat transfer fluids, power block concepts, and coupling with desalination technologies. He is also interested in CO2 capture technologies for hard-to-abate sectors and optimal operation of complex energy systems. He coordinates two European projects, SCARABEUS and DESOLINATION, and has been the principal investigator of over 20 European projects on innovative technologies for CO2 emission reduction. He visited Queensland University of Technology for three months in 2017 and 2019, and is currently spending a year there as a researcher. He co-founded two laboratories at the Department of Energy, SolarTech Lab and MultiGood MicroGrid Lab, which focus on the development and integration of PV technologies and the demonstration of optimal management of energy systems.
