Casari Carlo Spartaco

Carlo S. Casari, born in Milan, Italy, in 1974, is Full Professor of Physics of Matter and he works at NanoLab, Micro- and Nanostructured Materials Laboratory. He obtained a Master degree in Electronic Engineering at Politecnico di Milano (Italy). In 2000-2001 he worked as a research collaborator at Politecnico di Milano and at National Insitute for the Physic of Matter (INFM). In 2004 he obtained a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering. His interests regard the fundamental science of the bottom-up growth of nanostructures and their structure-property relationships as a function of size and quantum confinement and the applied science nanostructured materials obtained by the assembling of nano-sized structures as building blocks with nanoengineered functional properties. He has lectured in several courses in the field of physics, physics of condensed matter and nanotechnology; he currently lectures Introduction to Nanotechnology and Physics of Nanostructures B.Sc and M.Sc. students. He published more than 150 international scientific papers and has presented original contributions to various international conferences. He has been the Principal Investigator for several competitive projects, including three ERC grants (ERC Consolidator in 2016, ERC Proof-of-concept in 2020 and 2022). He won innovation prizes and in 2023 cofounded the startup ENIGMA, a spin-off of Politecnico di Milano.
