Mazzeo Domenico
Domenico Mazzeo, born in 1987, has been an Assistant Professor at the Department of Energy, Politecnico di Milano since 2023. Domenico obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2009 and, with honours, a Master’s degree in Energy Engineering in 2012 and a PhD in Civil and Industrial Engineering in 2017 at the University of Calabria. In the period 2013-2022, he was a post-doc research fellow at Unical and University IUAV of Venice. He spent a research stay period at the University of Lleida (Spain) in 2016. He obtained the Italian Qualification for Associate Professor in the sector 09/C2 technical physics and nuclear engineering in 2019. His research activities focus primarily on: (i) heat transfer and thermal energy storage in phase change materials; (ii) integrated polygeneration energy systems (renewable systems, electric batteries, thermal storage systems, heat pumps, electrolysers, electric vehicles); (iii) solar greenhouse heat and mass transfer modelling; (iv) application of machine learning in the renewable system field. He has published more than 100 papers, supervised about 50 master’s theses and two PhD students, and delivered courses in the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs in Italy and the University of Waterloo in Canada. He won the ATI 2018 Award from the Italian Thermotechnical Association (ATI), the Sustainability 2022 Travel Award from MDPI and belongs in the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2023.
