Rancilio Giuliano

Giuliano Rancilio is a researcher at the Department of Energy of the Politecnico di Milano, where he obtained a PhD in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Energy Engineering. He teaches master’s degree courses on the technical and regulatory aspects of electricity networks and markets. He is the coordinator of the continuing education courses “Training on Smart Grids & Electricity Markets.”
His main areas of research concern the technical, economic, and regulatory aspects of distributed electricity resources, with a focus on battery storage systems and electric vehicle charging and their interactions with electricity markets. His research activity ranges more broadly across sustainability issues, also considering the intertwining of system decarbonization and social aspects: the role of electricity consumers and energy communities, the mitigation of energy poverty, and the potential of individual actions in decarbonization.
He has taken part in regional, national, and European research projects, collaborating with institutional bodies, companies, and other universities. He has carried out a period of research at the European Commission’s Joint Research Center.

Education

BSc in Energy Engineering, Politecnico di Milano, 2015.
MSc in Energy Engineering, Politecnico di Milano, 2018.
