Sanvito Andrea Giuseppe
Andrea Giuseppe Sanvito, born in 1993, is a fixed-term Type A Researcher (RTDa) at the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 2018 and obtained his PhD with an interdepartmental scholarship in Energy and Mechanical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. During his master’s thesis, he collaborated with the Renewable Energy group at Lancaster University (United Kingdom), working on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis of horizontal axis wind turbines, both onshore and offshore floating. During his visit abroad, Andrea worked in the Wind Energy Group at TU Delft thanks to an Erasmus+ Traineeship project. He is currently involved in the PNRR NEST Spoke 5 project “Innovative high power density wind turbines”. He is also involved in the study of wake recovery in floating wind farms and the interaction between turbines. Studies on horizontal axis wind turbines are developed using an internally developed CFD-actuator line code and experimental tests in the Large Wind Tunnel at Politecnico di Milano. In addition, he studies the aerodynamics of vertical axis turbines with CFD and scale model tests. He is the author of 20 scientific articles presented at international conferences or published in peer-reviewed journals. He was awarded the Best Paper Award by the Wind Energy Committee at ASME TurboExpo in 2019. He has been invited as a speaker at national conferences (OWEMES 2024) and AIMSEA Winter School (Pisa 2025) to disseminate the research developed in the context of the PNRR NEST project.
Education
PhD in Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology, Politecnico di Milano, 2023
Master’s Degree in Energy Engineering, Politecnico di Milano, 2018
Bachelor’s Degree in Energy Engineering, Politecnico di Milano, 2015
