The Department of Energy of the Politecnico di Milano is actively involved in the European research project GAMMA (Green Ammonia and BioMethanol fuel MAritime vessels), funded with 13 million euro from the European Commission’s Horizon Europe innovation framework programme out of a total of 17 million.
In the past few weeks, researchers from the SESAM group of the Department of Energy of the Politecnico di Milano held a course in Rio de Janeiro – at the invitation of Climate Compatible Growth (a UK-funded project that aims to finance sustainable energy and transport projects to meet development priorities in the South of the world), Universidade Federal Fluminense and Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora – aimed at energy professionals, economists and civil engineers, focusing on energy modelling tools.
On 26 January 2024, the ‘Smart Energy for the Future’ course, which for the first time took place within the STEN – Energy and Nuclear Sciences and Technologies Doctorate Course at the Department of Energy of the Politecnico di Milano, was successfully concluded.
The Department of Energy of the Politecnico di Milano is also taking the field to support the spread of renewable fuels of biological and non-biological origin to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in industrial processes where the possibility of electrification remains limited, such as marine transport and the steel industry.

On 15 January 2024, the Energy Department of the Politecnico di Milano had the honour of welcoming Dr. Klaus Grabinski, President of the Court of Appeal of the Unified Patent Court (UPC) for an open lecture on the functioning of the Court, as part of the European Patent Litigator Course.
