From 5 to 21 November 2025, the three on-campus weeks of the Blended Executive Programme (BEP) Strategic Energy Planning and Industrial Ecology for Local Sustainable and Just Development in an Era of Geopolitical Uncertainties were held at the EN:lab of the Politecnico di Milano. The training programme, which began online in October 2025 and will conclude in February 2026, is is a TNE (transnational education initiative) and it is part of the SHARE_Africa initiative, launched by the IHEA Foundation (Italian Higher Education with Africa) and supported by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). It is funded by the European Union-Next Generation EU.

The final report of Spoke 13 of the National Center MOST has been completed at the Politecnico di Milano

The final presentation of Spoke 13 “Electric Traction System and Batteries” of the National Center for Sustainable Mobility (MOST), led by the Politecnico di Milano, was held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, in the EN:lab Council Room of the Department of Energy at the Politecnico di Milano.
The project, funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), involved nine universities and seven companies operating in the fields of electric traction and energy storage, with the goal of developing innovative technologies and solutions for more sustainable and interconnected mobility.

Restart of wind tunnel tests of the offshore wind turbine  prototype of the PNRR NEST project

Experimental tests on the prototype of a vertical-axis wind turbine installed on a robot simulating the motion of a floating offshore platform restarted at the Politecnico di Milano wind tunnel. The activity is part of the PNRR project NEST – Network for Energy Sustainable Transition (funded by the EU– NEXTGenerationEU) and specifically as part of Spoke 2 “Energy harvesting & Offshore renewable”.

Delegation from the Department of Energy visits Huawei research centers in China

In October, a delegation from the Electrical Systems for Energy research group was hosted by Huawei at its research centers in Shenzhen, Dongguan, and Shanghai.
Professor Maurizio Delfanti, from the Department of Energy, together with researchers Filippo Bovera and Giuliano Rancilio, had the opportunity to visit the main sites where Huawei carries out technological development and experimental activities on electrochemical storage systems and power conversion systems serving batteries and photovoltaic plants.

Riccardo Colombo, PhD candidate at the Laboratory of Catalysis and Catalytic Processes within the Department of Energy of the Politecnico di Milano, received the Best Student Presentation Award at the Catalysis and Reaction Engineering Symposium (CARES) 2025, held from 25 to 27 September at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (Chennai, India), one of the country’s most prestigious research institutions.
