Prof. Emanuele Martelli’s team wins the Eni Award for Innovation 2025 in the Digital category

The research project “An innovative Multi-Energy Systems design and optimization tool for evaluating decarbonization opportunities”, the result of a collaboration between researchers from Eni and Plenitude (S. Sala, A. Amendola, G. Gioco, M. Primato, T. Audino, M. Di Marco) and the team coordinated by Prof. Emanuele Martelli (Vincenzo Dipierro, Lorenzo Pilotti, Andrea Zelaschi, Alessandro F. Castelli) from the Department of Energy of the Politecnico di Milano, has won the Eni Award for Innovation 2025 in the Digital category.

Research and Innovation: at the Department of Energy the STEN PhD Course Poster Session

On October 2, 2025, the Department of Energy organized the annual Poster Session dedicated to second-year students of the PhD Course “Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology (STEN).”
Thirty-nine PhD candidates presented the progress of their research projects through posters in front of the Faculty Board, colleagues, and the entire Department community, in an event that involved more than 100 participants.

Closing of the 18th edition of the RIDEF 2.0 Specializing Master: training and innovation for the energy of the future since 2003

On September 26, 2025, the Closing Ceremony of the 18th edition of the Specializing Master “RIDEF 2.0 – Reinventing Energy. Renewables, Decentralization, Efficiency and Strong Sustainability” of the Department of Energy took place. The postgraduate training program is dedicated to energy, environmental issues, and climate protection.

The Department of Energy coordinates the ECCO-2050 project for the energy transition of cities and communities

The Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano is the coordinator of the ECCO-2050 project (Smart Energy in Cities and Communities for 2050), led by Prof. Emanuele Martelli. The project, which also involves Politecnico di Torino, University of Parma, and University of Ferrara, aims to develop innovative tools to optimize the design and management of integrated energy systems for smart cities and energy communities, with the goal of achieving the decarbonization targets set for 2050.
