Sforza Lorenzo
Lorenzo Sforza, born in 1989, is Assistant Professor (RTDa) of Fluid Machines at Politecnico di Milano. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 2014. He achieved with honors his Ph.D. in Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology in 2018. In 2019, he received the award for the best Ph.D. thesis in the field “Internal Combustion Engines and hybrid powertrain systems” from AIMSEA association. Lorenzo has extensive expertise on the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling of the gas-exchange and thermochemical processes inside internal combustion engines (ICEs). His research experience is enriched by international experiences as visiting scholar, working on LES premixed-combustion models with prof. Christian Hasse’s group at TU Freiberg, Germany (2016), and exploring the experimental activity on ICEs in PRSIME laboratory at Université d’Orléans, France (2017). Lorenzo’s efforts are currently devoted to model carbon-free reacting processes in ICEs involving hydrogen and ammonia, including under-expanded direct-injection phenomena and innovative ignition strategies, as prechamber one (TJI).
Education
Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering, Politecnico di Milano, 2014.
Ph.D. in Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology, Politecnico di Milano, 2018.
