Maffini Alessandro

Alessandro Maffini is a Researcher in Experimental Matter Physics and Applications at Politecnico di Milano. He graduated cum laude in Nuclear Engineering from the same university in 2012 and earned his Ph.D. cum laude in Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology in 2015.
His research interests include the development of advanced materials for nuclear fusion studies, theoretical and experimental investigations of laser–matter interaction across different intensity regimes, and the development and application of particle beams accelerated by laser pulses.
Alessandro collaborates with several Italian and European research institutions, including ENEA, INFN, and the Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI-ERIC). Since 2023, he has been affiliated with the Institute for Plasma Science and Technology of the Italian National Research Council (ISTP-CNR).
He was the principal investigator of the 2022 PRIN project “Nanomaterials for Fusion”, conducted in collaboration with ISTP-CNR, Politecnico di Torino, and ENEA.
He has taught in various areas of physics, particularly plasma physics and condensed matter physics. Alongside his research and teaching activities, he is also engaged in science communication, with a focus on nuclear technologies.
